We believe that participation in sports and cultural activities, including community outreach initiatives, form an important part of a holistic education. At HeronBridge College we offer a wide variety of sport and cultural programmes and have specialist sports and arts staff on our faculty.
Long term athletic development (LTAD) is the approach that HeronBridge College advocates for and applies to our sports curriculum.
Over the past few years, the school has made an intentional decision to not only ‘have a great sports offering’ but to provide our learners with the opportunity to become the best that they can be. At a senior prep and college level, we make every effort to provide excellent opportunities for development and exposure to our sportsmen and women and are incredibly proud of the number of provincial players that represent our school.
HeronBridge College is host to a fantastic array of sports facilities including a state-of-the-art astro, a flood-lit rugby and soccer field, 9 netball and tennis courts, 4 sports fields, volleyball and basketball courts, a mountain-biking route, climbing wall, heated pool and high-performance centre.
Seattle Coffee Company is also on site on our sports campus and have a mobile station in the College.
We offer a dynamic programme of on and off-stage arts and culture activities that expose students to an exciting array of fine and contemporary arts.
HEARTists is a fantastic annual event that HeronBridge College has run for many years, and not only provides a platform for artistic expression but gives talented students an opportunity to perform in front of experienced national and international performers. As a Curro Select School we are thrilled to be able to participate in the Curro Create festival, which provides yet another platform for our artists to have exposure to experts in their fields, as well as mentorship opportunities for learners that excel in this creative arts programme.
In addition to the main winter and summer school activities, some of the specialist sports and cultural activities on offer include equestrian, rock-climbing, golf, chess, gymnastics, mountain-biking, swimming, basketball, volleyball, debating, vocal ensemble, and major production.
Sports and cultural activities are generally included in our school fees, while extramural activities are offered by private tutors/coaches at an additional cost.
